fogie00's Bowling Website
Home Page

Welcome to my Home Page!

Like the majority of the people on this site, bowling is a big part of my life.  My parents are both bowlers, and several of my uncles bowled as well.  While I had several youth coaches give me tips, my dad was always my best coach.  I am a lefty and he is a righty, but he is the reason I am the bowler that I am today.  While I was bowling, he could always tell when the lanes were starting to break down for me and would explain what was happening and what I needed to do to keep hitting the pocket.  He didn't just tell me to move three boards right, but he explained why I needed to do so.

I got started when I was 6 years old, bowling on Saturday mornings at Arrowhead Lanes in Champaign, IL.  I didn't bowl the following year, opting to play basketball through the local YMCA instead.  Basketball was fun, but I missed bowling too much.  So the year after, I got back into bowling at Western Bowling Alley in Champaign.  I bowled in the youth programs there for seven years.  Then some of my closest friends that I had been bowling with all my life moved to a new town, and they wanted to bowl at a bowling alley closer to their new town.  So when I was 15, I began bowling at Old Orchard Lanes in Savoy.  I bowled in the youth program there until I graduated high school, when I decided to move up to the adult leagues.

When I moved up to bowl with the big boys, there was an adjustment period for me.  I went from having the highest average in the league as a youth bowler to being a bowler that was just above average.  It took some getting used to, but it made me a better bowler.  I had to really work to keep improving so I could compete with the better bowlers in the league.  Then I began bowling in multiple leagues, and my average began to jump.  Just being able to bowl more often and see different lane conditions allowed me to get better.  I definitely see myself bowling as long as I physically can.  While things may come up in life that force me to drop a league or two, I couldn't imagine not bowling.

Thanks for looking me up, feel free to look around and drop me a line.
