Home Page

Welcome!

This is a new web site for me, so I'm not sure as to how or what I should do here - so I will talk about my bowling lively hood.

My real name is Russell Roy and I am an avid bowler and an easy-going kind of bowling coach. I have been bowling for over 40 years now - and lately, I've enjoy passing my skills and knowledge to other bowlers and watching them blossom. I became USBC Certified Coach and a USBC Registered Volunteer back in 2006, so that I could pass along my experiences and educational knowledge to others with credibility.
I personally am active in bowling two (2) USBC Certified Leagues per week - one is a typical house lane pattern (217 avg.) and the other is a PBA Experience league (184 avg). I have a total of 6 bowling balls of which I will typically use just 1 or 2 regularly during any given league session (see the 'My Arsenal' link to see my equipment). Some of my bowling experiences come from bowling in Men's travel leagues, Men's and Mixed handicap and scratch leagues, and various tournaments of all types (except National and Pro's) - oh and open bowling from a little 6 lane house to 102 lane centers, under all types if lane conditions, lane types, and temperature/humidity conditions.
As a coach - Probably the BEST advice I can pass along to people in bowling is; Finding the right ball to match the bowlers skills is the hardest challenge! Bowling balls theses days are so diversed with weight blocks, cover stocks, and drill patterns that just about any ball can be made to do anything - but it is the SKILL of the bowler, that can make any ball perform as a superior ball. This is why I teach bowling skills and conditioning in the "Human" factor!
As a USBC Certified Coach, I primarily work with youth bowlers, but I am not limited from working with people of all ages - New and Intermediate skill level bowlers alike! I am also an active Head-Coach for a High School Bowling Club and a Lead-Coach in Bowling Center's Youth program. So my coaching skills are always challanged to interact with people of all types of mental and physical skill levels and abilities.
I am a FIRM believer and supporter in YOUTH bowling programs and activities, as "this is the future life-line" of bowling! To me, my Coaching is not about the money or the intimidation of being better than people, it revolves around making bowling into a "FUN SPORT" and not a frustrating/painful experience.
I will NOT coach anyone beyond their present ability and skill levels - physically nor mentally. My Beginner coaching techniques involves teaching proper bowling fundementals (approach mechanics and targeting systems) and spare-shooting. As part of my Intermediate coaching techniques, I will guide people through the dynamics of bowling and mental game of being a successful bowler - reading of the ball, lanes, and pin motions to help you better improve your game scoring without losing your composure and confidence, in a more consistant manner.
If you want to know more my Coaching, I can be found here on Bowl.Com!

Thank you for visiting my NEW home page - and good luck in YOUR bowling,
Russell D. Roy
